Governance and Decentralized Organization
The governance of any project is difficult and perhaps even more so whenever a project is decentralized. The choice to be decentralized is about providing the community the ability to guide the development of Nine Chronicles.
At the moment there are two main ways to get involved with governance, NCIPs and Forking. Later, we may introduce an governance mechanism that's influenced by NCG holders.
Nine Chronicles Improvement Proposals (NCIPs)
Nine Chronicles Improvement Proposals (NCIPs) describe standards for Nine Chronicles.
An NCIP is a design document providing information to the Nine Chronicles community, or describing a new feature for Nine Chronicles software. We intend NCIPs to be the primary mechanisms for proposing new features, for collecting community input on an issue, and for documenting the design decisions that have gone into Nine Chronicles.
Forking
As Nine Chronicles is fully open source it means that the community can always copy the code and start their own network. This is part of the ethos of blockchain governance: give the community the ability to 'fork' the network and make their own decisions. Some may see that as a threat, however, we believe that choice is important especially whenever traditional games companies prevent the community from actively guiding the evolution of online games.
NCG
Through NCG, Nine Chronicles can gradually evolve into a community-owned Decentralized Organization. Governance would be further distributed among players, with Planetarium's influence being diluted over time.
